Motorcyclist Sustains Injuries After Collision in Cottonwood

There are over 10,000 reported motorcycle accidents in California each year. Tragically, the number of motorcycle-related deaths has been on the rise for the last 22 consecutive years. This is greatly due, in part, to the fact that other motor vehicle drivers feel anxious around motorcycles and act aggressively or inappropriately as a result. When drivers act negligently, it jeopardizes the lives of motorcyclists who can only rely on their helmets for physical protection. Consequently, motorcycle accidents often lead to catastrophic injuries that necessitate intense medical treatments and ongoing professional care services.

The Cottonwood Accident

On October 15, 2018, a motorcyclist sustained major injuries after colliding with a white, full-size van. According to a CHP incident log, this accident occurred near the Chevron Gas Station on Main St. Witnesses immediately called 911 to report the accident, and emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene. Law enforcement officials interviewed the witnesses and learned that the motorcyclist was thrown over the van during impact.

The CHP had to temporarily close down the southbound lanes of Main St. to assist the motorcyclist and clear the scene. Officers reopened the roadway after the rider was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. According to reports, this collision is still being investigated and no further information has been released.
