Redding Police Department Shuts Down I-5 After Crash

On Wednesday, November 28, two cars collided at the 44 interchange on I-5 westbound, leaving one car in the center of the highway and the other vehicle in a field.

Investigation revealed that a high-speed police chase contributed to the accident, when the suspect car hit another vehicle near the interchange. The suspect, Richard Pulido (age 33), fled from police when members of law enforcement attempted to stop him for reckless driving. Police pursued him at a high rate of speed until he lost control of his car, causing a collision with another vehicle, the driver of which was sent to the hospital with injuries.

Police report that Pulido showed signs of alcohol and marijuana use at the time of the accident and has been charged with felony evading and felony DUI causing injury.

What to Do if You’ve Been Harmed Through Reckless Driving

Reports of this traffic-stopping crash suggest that the man who was harmed during police’s pursuit of Pulido shared no fault in the accident. Were he to take legal action against the Pulido, he would likely have a valid personal injury claim, given that his injuries are the direct result of another person’s carelessness and negligent driving.

If you have been harmed due to another person’s negligence on the road, it may be necessary to file a personal injury claim so that you can recover the compensation you deserve and thereby avoid additional financial hardship.
